MATCH REPORT - John Fawkner College

20 Jun 2017 by Antony Keely

MAC Football Academy travelled to John Fawkner College to compete against a fellow Melbourne City Partnership School. With last weeks poor performance still fresh in the players mind, a resolve to play with unity and a selfless attitude was needed.

Furkan Erkan Akin stormed out of the blokes and had a hatrick in his bag within the first 15 minutes of play. Whilst this was a sensational effort from Furkan, the real story was the defensive pressure MAC applied on its opponents which forced mistakes and opened the door to attack.

Leading the way with the defensive aspects was Mohamed Jama and Sharmarke Mohamed who continually forced the opposition to panic. Nik Sirko was also resolute in goals.

With the score sitting 5-1 at the break, MAC set themselves the challenge of not allowing JFC to score despite a significant wind advantage. Despite regular attacking forays, MAC proved too disciplined in defence and held JFC scoreless in the second half to run out with a sensational victory.

A very happy playing group returned to MAC, having set a strong bench mark in defensive effort and teamwork; something we hope to achieve each time we play.

Final Score – MAC 6 V JFC 1

Goals – Furkan Erkan Akin 5 & Farhan Farah 1

Best Players – Mahamed Jama, Nik Sirko, Furkan Erkan Akin, Samuel Dagnew & Sharmarke Mohamed
