22 Apr 2017 by Antony Keely

On Tuesday the 18th of April MAC Football Academy travelled to the magnificent St Bernard’s College for its first ever soccer match.

Joshua Evans was deservedly awarded captaincy for the inaugural game following on from his committed and selfless attitude to the team.

MAC started the match cautiously; fully aware the St Bernard’s College are the Associated Public School Champions at year 10 level. Some impressive passing and control saw Furkan Erkan Akin out in the open, where Furkan held his nerve to finish off a classy play from MAC. Half time had MAC leading 1-0.

The second half had MAC defending grimly as St Bernard’s flexed there muscles. Hussein Abdi, Nik Sirko and Raymond Viane defended for their lives and continually repelled offensive play from SBC.

With the scores level at 1-1, Farhan Farah stepped up to win a penalty and converted with 10 minutes to play. Farhan was to score again from a free kick, capping off a super game from the midfielder.

All boys played their part in a very positive start to the MAC Football Academy in 2017. Most importantly, each player represented the school with distinction!

Well Done.
